Recently, Jessica volunteered for WindAid and visited Peru to improve wind turbines and electricity. WindAid is a social entrepreneurship project that provides wind turbines to communities in Peru who are in need of electricity and light. Volunteers have the opportunity to build and install wind turbines in just five weeks. Jessica also worked on the Light Up a Life project while in Peru to focus on improving the lives of those without benefits of electricity. Her unforgettable trip allowed for a very hands on experience.
In 2011, Jessica traveled to Costa Rica to advance her knowledge on renewable energy. During the visit she participated in activities such as visiting waterfalls, rafting, kayaking, a jungle reforestation tour, zip ling, and horseback riding.
Jessica thrives on learning about new cultures. Traveling and meeting new people helps her gain first-hand knowledge about the culture and lifestyle of another county. She enjoys sharing her skills and knowledge with others as well as creating long lasting bonds and friendships with the people she meets along her journey.
With plans to graduate in the December 2013, Jessica is completing her programming course and senior design project. She grew up as a member of the Fort Bend Boys and Girls Club and has always been a dedicated and committed individual to her family, community, and school. Jessica is the first person from her family to attend and graduate college.
